A Flame to Rebirth by The Dysania Concept (2022)

Another year comes to a close, and the calendar is reset one more time. New Year resolutions and promises are made, and goals and missions are established. As the clock strikes midnight, everyone feels a sense of rebirth, a sense of renewal. Phoenixes are great examples of the power of rebirth and the value it can have in our lives. Professor Dumbledore explained how “phoenixes burst into flame when it is time for them to die and are reborn from the ashes.” So, to understand one of the most influential mythological creatures in history, we invite you to keep reading this edition of The Mindsets, where we’ll explore the qualities, virtues and skills that make them one of the best examples to follow as we approach a new year.

1. Introspective

Phoenixes are introspective and embrace the time to be reborn. Even though many cultures explain the Phoenix’s process of rebirth differently, they all agree it comes from its ability to understand it is time to be reborn. Phoenixes can initiate this due to tiredness, a need to renew their soul or to allow a new version of them to rise. Still, beyond the reason, the main idea is that Phoenixes are capable of being introspective and knowing when it’s time to reborn themselves. We humans can’t burst into flames and rise from our ashes literally, but metaphorically, this can be incredibly powerful. So, as we approach a new year and a new beginning, be introspective about yourself and your life. Think about your relationships, work, and state of mind, and use this opportunity to be reborn from the ashes of your previous self. Even though this doesn’t occur in a single night or when the clock strikes twelve, use this great timing to take the first step.

2. Courage

Phoenixes must use their courage to grow into a new life. Some cultures say Phoenixes fly to the sun and become pure fire, while others say when the time has come, the Phoenix itself lights up on fire, but in both scenarios, the sheer will of the Phoenix to burn and transform itself into ashes requires plenty of courage. When we are introspective and decide it is time to be reborn or renew ourselves, we need the courage to face the flames and the fire that will allow us to become simple and plain ashes from where we can rebuild who we are. Therefore, put yourself, metaphorically, in the fire, burning your previous body and mind and creating space for a renewal, a rebirth.

3. Hopeful

Phoenixes inspire hope by pushing through flames and fire to renew their life. When burning and creating space for a new and grown life, Phoenixes hope for a reborn soul. As they courageously place themselves in the fire, they must always hope and believe in the good outcomes this will provide. Many cultures have seen the death and rise of the Phoenix as a hopeful renewal in spirit. Thus, the Phoenix not only uses its hope to have the courage to face its flaming rebirth but inspires the same hope in others as they see the greatness of allowing yourself to mature into something better. So, have hope and trust yourself when you have decided to begin this challenging growth process towards becoming a closer version of who you aspire to be.

Phoenixes are reborn by burning into ashes and growing again from the foundations of their previous self. Similarly, we must be introspective to understand what needs to change within ourselves to become who we aspire to be, and we then must have the courage to face the process, no matter the toughness of it. Once we have the courage to be reborn, we must hope and trust in ourselves, inspiring the same hope of renewal and growth in others who watch us endure the process. Therefore, as we approach a new year, we invite you to consider The Phoenix’s Mindset as the calendar resets, and we take on the challenge of using our previous self as fuel to be reborn into who we aspire to be.
