Protecting and defending the natural environment. Fighting for a sustainable and responsible way of living. Sharing concern but hope about our planet with all of us. These are some of the responsibilities Environmentalists have, as they dedicate their mind, energy and time to understanding, sharing, and ultimately, saving planet Earth. However, Environmentalists tend to have a specific character to achieve their goals successfully. So, in this edition of The Mindsets, we’ll explore the qualities, virtues and skills Environmentalists have that make them capable of fighting for our planet’s health. As Albert Einstein explained simply, “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”

1. Inquisitive

Environmentalists rely on their inquisitiveness to learn about planet Earth and its conflicts. To fight and protect someone or something, one must have an interest or, even better, passion, and that passion often leads to the need to learn about the subject, hence why Environmentalists are incredibly inquisitive, as they attempt to comprehend every aspect of our planet’s nature by asking questions, being curious and researching. And this inquisitiveness allows them to understand better how to fulfil their goals. Therefore, as Environmentalists do, when facing a goal, especially a long-term or grand goal, be inquisitive. Allow your passion to spark your curiosity, leading you to endless knowledge as you learn tools and strategies to get there.

2. Communication

Environmentalists count on their communication skills to share knowledge and solutions. Their inquisitiveness helps them learn and strategise solutions, so they must have excellent communication skills to make them known. The mission of Environmentalists is to research, learn and propose plans. However, to be successful, they usually require everyone’s participation. Thus, Environmentalists must communicate their ideas efficiently to spark action from theory. Similarly, we must communicate our ideas efficiently, especially when working with a team. To do so, we need a good strategy, as a good idea never appropriately communicated is as useful as not having the idea.

3. Relentless

Environmentalists must be relentless when fighting against today’s world. As we might be able to recognise, the world we live in has significantly changed in the last century. Technology has developed, energy sources have changed and leadership too. Therefore, for Environmentalists to be successful in their missions, they must be relentless against all the changes they face: changes in politics, consumption, waste levels, and more. So, whenever chasing a goal, we must be determined and refuse to give up despite adversity and changes. We must be relentless against challenges and hardship, as Environmentalists are when fighting for our home.

Environmentalists live with a weight on their shoulders. And this weight comes from the sense of responsibility they feel towards protecting, saving and restoring our planet. However, despite the discouragement that weight might create, they remain inquisitive. Environmentalists remain patient when communicating their ideas efficiently as they try to help people understand how to make a difference. And most importantly, they are relentless against anything thrown their way. Therefore, we invite you to adopt The Environmentalist’s Mindset as we chase our goals to create an impact and a change, without mattering if it’s in our life, our family’s life or the world’s life.
